Carla Cackowski

Managing Associate

Carla is an improv and sketch comedy performer, teacher, and director as well as a writer and podcaster. She comes to us from Second City in Hollywood where she has been teaching and directing since 2010. Carla has toured all over Europe, Alaska, and the Caribbean performing comedy with The Second City. She's a member of SAG-AFTRA and has done voiceover work on shows for ABC Family, TBS, and Disney. She wrote and performed five solo shows that were produced in Los Angeles and her comedic monologues were published in anthologies by APPLAUSE BOOKS. Carla hosts "Improv Yak", a shop-talk podcast about improv comedy. When they're not touring their two person improv show "Orange Tuxedo", she and her husband Craig Cackowski co-host a podcast called "Craig's List". Most recently, Carla has written for sketch shows on PBS Kids and Dreamworks TV.

Nate May hails from New Jersey and has been living in Portland, OR for the past seven years. He has been working in the service industry for 23 years, working every position known from a dishwasher and line cook, to a bartender and manager. His passion for food and beverage has been a life long journey which has honed his skills in the restaurant industry and as a food and beverage manager. A few of Nate's specialties include Vegan cuisine, Pizza and liquor infusions, as he takes pride in creating a balance of unique flavors. Aside from Nate May's experience in food and beverage, he has worked as a Massage Therapist, Flooring Specialist and woodworker. He has been performing Improv with Curious Comedy for the past three years(first with classes, and then with the house team and special projects). His hobbies include camping and hiking, dancing, woodworking, playing music, and getting together with his weekly D&D group.

Sarah JK Shoemaker is the Associate Artistic Director of Curious Comedy in Portland Oregon. She is an alumi ensemble member at Un-Scripted Theatre and Leela Theatre in San Francisco. She is a founding member of the all female ensemble Peach Pit and guests with Kari and Company. In 2015, Sarah guested with The Hills are Alive with the Sound of Improv for a cave match at BATS.

Stacey founded Curious in 2008 - establishing the organization as well as acquiring and building out the space. She has served as Artistic Director ever since. She also served as Board Chair from 2008-2013. Stacey works closely with the Board, its committees, the Managing Director and the staff to develop and implement the theater’s five year strategic plan. Artistically, she is responsible for working with the theater’s teachers, performers, producers and tech team to develop the artistic voice of the theater’s classes, shows and outreach programs to ensure fulfillment of our mission and artistic satisfaction for performers, students and our audience.

Tabitha is an avid fan of comedy and a Food Servist by trade. After Many years of volunteering for Bridgetown comedy festival she finally volunteered at All Jane in 2016. Then she kinda fell in love with the place and now she works here. It's all pretty romantic really...

Cameron Gable began working at Curious Comedy Theater as a volunteer in early 2013 and was hired a year later at the Assistant House Manager. He is currently a part-time student at Portland State University and a long time independent musician. He loves his time at the theater where his love of improv continues to grow.

DK Reinemer

DK Reinemer

Marketing Director

DK is an improv and sketch comedy performer, teacher, and coach hailing most recently from Los Angeles where he performed and produced live comedy shows regularly at the Pack Theatre, ACME NoHo, and other various venues around town. In 2004, DK helped open the wildly successful improv theatre, The Upfront Theatre, in Bellingham WA, where he got his improv chops performing short and long form improv. Eventually, DK became the Education Director and helped build the Upfront School of Improv till he moved to LA in 2013. DK has headlined comedy festivals across North America including, Austin, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Vancouver with his various groups and has been a featured ensemble member at a myriad of international improv festivals. DK is currently wrapping up a 7 city Fringe Festival tour of his new solo sketch comedy show, “Help! I’m American,” for which he won ‘Spirit of the Fringe’ and ‘Outstanding Artist’ awards in Montreal and Calgary. DK makes a pretty good lasagna and can also knit.

Nick  Condon

Nick Condon has been improvising for over 20 years and has performed in nearly every state in the union. A Minneapolis native, he studied and performed at The Brave New Workshop,the country's longest running satirical comedy theatre, where he first discovered long form, and was a founding member of Five Man Job. Most recently he hails from Talkeetna, Alaska where he served as Creative Director of Denali Drama and Iditaprov. While in Alaska he produced, directed, taught, and performed theatre and improv all over the state. He moved to Portland in June of 2016 and is thrilled to have found such a great home in the Portland improv community. It's here where he created his solo show "Solitaire" the one man one act play. As Director of Corporate Events he is thrilled to bring the power of "Yes,And" to individuals, companies and non profit organizations throughout the Pacific Northwest through customized shows and workshops.

Ever since he helped the with renovations, Anthony has wanted to work at Curious Comedy. He is a lighting designer, actor and photographer. He graduated with an M.F.A in Ensemble Based Physical Theater from Dell’arte International in 2013. He co-founded the company White Collar Crimes Theatre which tours to the Canadian Fringe Festivals with original works.

Dan Humke

Technical Director

Dan began performing with the Sonoma State University Comedy Improv Club in 2008, becoming the primary club instructor and producer in 2011. After moving to Portland in 2014, he joined Curious Comedy Theater as a Technical Assistant, as well as attending the Curious Comedy Training Center. Dan runs lights and sound for most Curious shows in addition to performing with Crater.

Luke comes to Curious Comedy Theater as an award winning Director, Cinematographer, and Creative Writer. He has edited for Adobe, Apple, Jordan, and more. He is excited to bring his skills to Curious Comedy's video content development! He began improvising in 2004 with Hanover College's Evil Petting Zoo. He has studied under improvisers from across the country including UCBLA and Magnet Theater (NYC). He currently preforms with Timid Destroyer in Portland. He occasionally posts his personal comedic projects live under the Luketopia Comedy banner which includes video sketch and the podcasts "Luketopia" and "Luketalkia." He is most excited being a part of Curious Comedy's leading influence bringing up the next wave of comedy talent here in Portland and making use of our television studio to bring Curious Comedy to the masses!
