Dramatic Improv: Getting Serious with Shantira Jackson

A little drama ain't never hurt nobody, especially when it comes to having more grounded characters and more nuanced scene work. In this workshop, you will learn how to initiate and maintain scenes through rooted scene work and committed character development without always going for the laugh; because getting serious can get you to funny. Previous improv experience recommended.
Shantira Jackson is a Chicago transplant newly based in Brooklyn. She is a currently a staff writer for BET's sketch show "50 Central" and the game "Cards Against Humanity". She has been featured on Splitsider, Refinery29's "Strong Opinions Loosely Held" and was a writer for the 2018 Writer's Guild Awards and the 2018 Webby Awards. She is an alum of The Second City Mainstage and can be seen performing all over the country with her critically acclaimed improv group 3Peat.
