Emotional and Psychological Listening with Joe Bill
Duration: 1 class session
Most people will agree that one of the most important (if not THE most important) elements of Improvisation is Listening.
In this workshop I will show you how to listen more deeply in scenes beyond a literal, linear or strategic level that simply builds on responding to your scene partner’s words. I will show you how to be present and responsive on an Emotional and Psychological level so that you can collaborate in the realm of the UNSPOKEN reality of the scene.
You will learn some tools to help you pay attention to HOW you are behaving with and responding to each other. It’s HOW you pay attention to the unspoken in the scene that often gives your character a greater depth from which you can play.
The other set of tools are for building a vocabulary to strengthen HOW you respond and verbally acknowledge what is going on, on an emotional and psychological level with the characters that are present. Your play in improv scenes AND games can have more depth, believability & layers of funny when you are in solid connection to the world of the unspoken between characters.
This class will be located at the Curious Comedy Theater - 5225 NE Martin Luther King Blvd.
